This disc is an enigma to me.  I wanted to love it so bad, but just never could truly find a place for it.  I will say that this disc is the most understable disc mankind has ever seen.  Imagine the most understable thing youve thrown, then double it.  It makes more for a trick shot disc or a goof off with your friends in a field to see what it will do disc, than a real thrower.  Im a big big fan of the Lace, but I can honestly say when my UnLace ended up about 220 feet right of the pin in a cow field, I decided not to go and get it back.  I spent more time looking for that disc than I ever should have.

When I first bought this, it was the only disc I could find that would go right with my arm, RHBH. It taught me a lot.

My first was 172 weight...after a season or so, it got to be pretty flippy. Still in brand new condition, these things last forever!

    So, I bought a 176g...it's a brick.

It was cold out, so I bought a 174g in soft rubber...FANTASTIC DISK! It has amazing lift, will climb right up a hill! As for the flight, right now it's a dead straight shooter thrown level, it will go right if I give it the angle.

I find the flight characteristics of this disk to be very weight dependent, so a couple of grams make a big difference.

Sad they will be no more, so get em while you can! As I said, they last forever.

Try this: throw an understable putter for 20 minutes, or until you figure out how to get it out there.

Then, throw this disc with the same motion, and be amazed. High speed according to the 2.4 rim width, but finesse makes this baby shine brightly.

I recommend medium power on a healthy hyzer release. This disc just flies on that toss.

If you try to power it, because it IS speed 14, it will turn and burn on you, so bad it will do a 180 and and up back at your feet.

    Crazy wonderful disc.

I am a fan of having an understable disc in the bag to rely on for a few situations, rollers and flex line annys to name a few. The problem with the unlace is that it cannot be relied on for these type of shots. The disc is just not consistent in its throws, and it tends to give issues. At times the disc flies and does exactly what you want, but the next 3 times you throw it the disc has something else completely in mind.

One of the problems with trying to throw a roller with this disc comes with the flexibility of it. It seems to hit the ground and kind of fold on itself. When trying to throw the flex line anny, it will sometimes hold its line, but other times it flexes out of the line super fast and fades back to the left in the exact opposite shot of what was desired. Overall, I just am not a fan of this disc and think there are better understable discs to be used on the market

This was my favorite disc for a 3 ish month period when I was first starting to play.  It was definitely the first disc i was able to get a good s-curve with.  Now that I've gotten a little bit more power, it is waaaay to flippy for me.  The listed flight numbers are far far from accurate.  The firmer the rubber, the more stable the disc from my experience.

The unLace is the epitome of understable. After only a few throws, even at max weight, mine became uncontrollably flippy. And it's not like I have a cannon or anything; I can't get 400 feet with a tailwind, 350 is good enough.

It's probably good for beginners, but players that can get a mid out around 300 feet will be able to throw those mids farther than the unLace. If you can throw rollers with any sort of consistency, maybe the unLace would work for you. Just don't expect it to go more than 50 feet into a wind without turning over into a cut roll.

I've never given a disc below four stars before now. I'll be nice and give it three, but I just don't see what the purpose of its drastic understability is except for beginners that want to try max distance drivers.

I love the UnLace. It feels great in the hand. The rubber is grippy. The disc has a good s-curve flight path. It flys great with the wind, but cross winds and head winds will cause problems. The disc does seem to lose gripablity (feels extra smooth) when playing in cold weather.  Overall I would recomment the UnLace to any beginner. The last thought is the disc coloring is amazing. all of the colors are vibrent and very unique.

I just got this, but I am excited to see how it will compare to my lightweight DX destroyer.  I got a light weight so that I can turn it over to make that nice S shape drive.  So far so good.  I like that it is very durable and flys like my destroyer so I can use it around trees without worry.

The unlace is without a doubt the most understable disc I have ever thrown. it is great for big anhyzer lines and an easy roller disc. However this disc will flip over if any wind is present with no mercy. all in all this is a very fun disc to throw if you want to try some fun and interesting lines.

If you are a new player and you get your hands on it, you are going to fall in love with it. I threw my friends unlace in the field and bought one after three or four throws with it. It felt so good, looked so unique, and I could really bomb the thing. Any new player looking for easy distance, you have it right here.

Flash forward to New England fall, and this disc turned in to a bunch of NOPE. Vibram makes some cool looking discs that freakin' vanish in leaves. New players+distance+camo=lost disc. Remember this formula, it is not one for success.

This is a disc that I found to not scale well with you as you grow. Its so understable and in my opinion so inconsistent and gets absolutely mauled by the slightest wind that you will end up replacing it or losing it rather quickly.

In all, if you dont live in a place that has seasons and play open courses and need easy distance, by all means get an Unlace. But don't be shocked if you end up booting it from your bag once you improve.

I have this disc at 164 grams in x-link medium.  I really like the material and bought this disc a while back (as a beginner) in the hopes it would add distance to my drives.  It was a very frustrating disc for me.  In order to have it do anything but turn into a roller (assuming I didn't have a strong tailwind or have a steep uphill throw), I would have to add hyzer.  If I dialed it in right I would be able to throw it farther than anything else I had at the time (which kept me coming back).  Unfortunately, more often, I would either add too little and have it turn and burn or too much and have it fade out too quickly.

I have tried it as a backhand roller disc, for which it works well.  Unfortunately, as a fairly new player I still have a hard time judging the angle necessary (and correctly factor in the wind) to have this shot work all that consistently.

Because of this inconsistency I eventually took it out of my bag for more consistent discs.

This disc didn't work well for me, but I could see it working well for less powerful players with clean form or more experienced players who know how to use a very understable disc.

RHBH throwers... enjoy.  You'll do those things you wanted to do, but didn't know what to purchase that would allow you to explore those talents.

I purchased this disc on purpose for rolling it in special situations.  Perfect.  I'll have to try some Hyzer one day but I have so many other discs to accomplish that it makes no sense. If you buy a -5 turn, use it appropriately.  Vibram gots the mots

Picked this disc up from Infinitediscs.com and I instantly fell in love with it! Medium is my personal favorite it's gummy and the most durable material I've seen. The disc grips very well even when wet. This disc is one of my furthest flying discs I have. It's very easy to get big annhyzer flex shots with but too much power and it will flip over.

This disc Should be called the Tread. It is great for open field glide shots, but if you are aiming for a disc that is built for hyzer flipping or for wooded courses, this is not the one. I throw 3/4 of bag understable and the reason i call this the tread instead is due to I can roll this disc for 150 ft+ if i try and hyzer flip the disc. This disc in the open field however is built great allowing for good glide and maxing out, with my throwing power, at around 250 ft. I recommend this for player that want a glide disc or a disc that turns right 90% of the time.

Vibram does make some great discs that are durable and also very grippy. So overall the disc is great if you thrive on grip and durability as I have taken this disc into trees with a ton of momentum and it has no scratches or dents to show.

Absolutely love this disc!  I first tried out some Vibram at a Birdie Bash.  The unLace was the first one I ever tried out.   I love the feel of these discs in the hand.  As a beginning player this disc was vital in my bag as it would give me some good distance but just starting out it would fly stable for me.  Now as my game and arm speed have improved this disc is a bit understable for me and I have to be sure and release it on a hyzer line so it will go out, roll up, turn right and then eventually come back left with a predicable amount of fade just like the flight chart shows!  I'll always have this in my bag!

As with other discs this one will change flight paths as the disc is used and beat in, I have found that it becomes much more understable as it is used.  Tempted to say it reminds me a little of DX plastic from Innova in regards to how much it can change.  However, with that being said, Vibram is one of the easiest to grip in all weather (snow, rain, dry, etc), and as you learn to use the disc the more it will get easier to throw.  It is one of my favorites, and when I lost my original, I went out and picked up another!  This is a great beginner disc and a great all weather disc!

I stumbled upon a video clip saying how Vibram's disc last longer than other brands. I bought this to try if what they had said was true. At first this disc caused me so much trouble! Constanly goes where I don't want or intend for it to go. I've used it as tomahawks just to hit it agianst trees and other objects just to test the durability. I eventually taimed this beast and WOW! It gave me so many birdies and almost a few aces. Unfortunatly, I got stuck in the month of bad discing. Terrible month, my throws were all off. I lost this disc, and eventually bought a replacement. My new disc, I am trying to find a new way to throw it. Its my second to go to disc when I play! My group makes fun of me for playing with Vibrams, but what can I say, haters gonna hate.

    insta-roller!

Vibram wasn't messing around when they said they were making an understable driver. This thing is fliptastic...I haven't seen a disc as understable as this since the heyday of understable discs in the mid to late 90s.

The rim feel the same as the rim of the Lace, so if you've thrown the Lace this disc will feel very familiar to you.  I used to throw Laces for many months, so my grip on the disc felt great.  The Vibram X Link rubber/plastic blend, as always, has great grip and outstanding durability.

My fir throw with the Un Lace was flat and hard...and it turned into a roller. At Colorado elevation, that was quite the surprise to me. I added hyzer and was able to keep it from turning and burning, but this thing banks hard to the right and just keeps riding that line. Even backing off the power quite a bit I found this disc to have understable tendencies. Sidearm shots were simply not possible with the Un Lace.

I gave this disc  to my wife and she loves it. Her regular Lace is a very straight flyer out to about 270 feet and the Un Lace has let her break the 300 foot mark with many throws. It's understsbility, variety of weights and incredible glide allow it to carry very far and be very predictable for lower powered players.

I am truly enjoying the extra distance that i am getting with the unlace it is not as understable as i thought it would be (a good thing) but if you really throw it hard it will turn very nicely, but you dont have to throw it hard to get good distance, am looking forward to more experimenting with this disc..

I was lucky enough to get my hands on a test unLace thanks to Steve Dodge for being awesome. I'm loving this disc so far. It's a Vibram X-Link 172g beauty. Immediately upon receiving my test Lace I headed to the field behind my office, and using a moderate standing throw (no run up, no x-step) watched this thing fly. I was amazed. With just a mild throw it went about 250 feet and exhibited some high speed right curving turn. Most discs don't do this unless you're really throwing with some power.

The unLace is indeed ultra understable. It's interesting, most Vibram discs have their flight ratings on the bottom that show how far they will go if thrown 55mph, and what degree of turn and fade they will have. Not the unLace. It shows a flight path on the back of the disc and has one number 44mph. If you've read my reviews before, I don't like thick rimmed discs. I generally don't have enough power to throw ultra high speed drivers backhand, and have trouble consistently throwing them forehand when the rims are too fat. I wasn't a fan of the original Lace, but am a big fan of the unLace for certain throws.

    1. Up Hill Throws: two of the local courses I play have some serious elevation increases. When throwing up hill it's really hard to get good distance with anything overstable when the disc is pointed up (which needs to happen when you're throwing up). Understable discs perform much better for me for steep uphill shots. Previously I had used an Avenger SS for these type throws, but the much faster, yet still very understable, unLace is able to give me the same unAwesomeness but more distance.

    2. Low Power Throws Where You Need Turn and Distance. On my home course there are certain shots where you want your disc to turn right in one direction but then have it fade back at the end of the flight. Today, for the first time ever, I Birdied hole 5A at Von Baer Park in Providence because I used the Unlace. This is a 300 foot hole that starts with a 50 foot tree tunnel, then trees in the direct path of the basket at about 175 feet. The only way to birdie this hole is to make a straight throw to get past the tunnel, then have your disc turn to get around the trees, then slightly fade back towards the basket. Normally with this hole I moderately throw my Avenger SS. It's understableness allows me to get around the trees at 175 feet, but usually leaves me 30-50 feet from the basket, which is outside my makeable putt range. If I try to throw hard my discs hard enough to make it all the way to the basket, I rarely can make it past the tunnel. With the unLace, I'm able to use my moderate throw, AND get the distance necessary to park the shot and set up a Birdie.

    3. Long Right Turning Anhyzer Throws. If you're a disc golfer that can't throw forehand, this disc will hold an anhyzer line better than any high speed distance driver I've tested. I was amazed at how it held its line without fading back at the end of the flight. You have to be careful with these throws so it won't turn into a roller, but if you can't flick, this might be a great disc.

I hear experienced disc golfers all the time telling people to "disc down." In this case, I say disc up. Newer disc golfers will flat out be able to get more distance with this faster disc. I'm sure there will be lots of people that don't like the UnLace because it's so understable. For an intermediate player with some power, it will flip into a roller. But, for certain shots, this great disc has already found a place in my bag. If you're a disc golfer desperately looking to get more distance, or someone looking for a disc that will give high speed turn and easy distance with moderate throws, you'll want the unLace.
