This disc is a lot like a C Line PD for me or a somewhat glidey FD3. I haven’t used it or thrown it a lot yet, maybe 10 rds and 15-20 shots on the course total and 15-20 throws practicing. But it’s definitely not understable at all like some are saying. It’s very overstable. At least mine is, and the guy at the shop said the same. I have it in Aura plastic and it’s 169g.
Of course the plastic feels fantastic and the durability is incredible. It’s an MVP made disc. And then the hand feel is amazing for what I want from this disc. It’s my O/S Control Driver or Distance FH disc. So I want it to be flat topped and not have too large of a rim. I have a few drivers if I need them, but I really love the speed 9-11 sized rims (that 1.9-2.1 size). Anything bigger starts to feel too uncontrollable to me, even though I have really large hands. So it’s perfect for distance forehands or backhand drives.
Then the flight. It’s VERY much like a slightly more stable PD for me or glidey FD3. I got this disc to fill a slot in my bag I’ve never had. The last stable to O/S disc in my bag is my FD2. Then everything above that speed is understable or straight/stable as I don’t have the distance yet to use discs above speed 7 that are O/S. I have 3 Traces and 4 Wraiths that go in and out of my bag depending on how I’m throwing and the course. And this disc is like the more overstable brother of those two. The Trace and Wraith are both longer and straighter. But they are all in the same realm. So far, this disc is usually 20-40’ shorter than those two for me. But I only throw distance drives around 340-350’, so take that how you will.
If I really get a hold of it on a flatter release, it will go straight for about 2/3 of the flight, then start turning left and just keep pushing that way. And anything on a hyzer angle is going to follow the hyzer curving path the entire way. I’ve tried a few flex shots with it, but not much luck for me. It is very O/S. It’s probably right at the top of my ability range right now for overstability. Anymore and I wouldn’t be able to throw it well. And it’s great for FH drives. I’ve had some of my best FH drives with this disc so far. Just trying to figure out the best release angle and way to throw it still. As sometimes it’s just too O/S and ends up way to far right for me. And I notice when I’m throwing with more hyzer in a round (form wise), this disc is too much for me unless the shot calls for a big sweeping hyzer. One thing it also does very very well is fly the same way every time. It ALWAYS has the same flight and is super consistent. I never have to worry about this disc flipping on me in the wind, and it will always get left. I may not always be able to throw it how I want, but I always know it will go straight and then left. No mistake about it. Which makes me feel super confident with it in hand.
Overall, I’m still learning this disc, and hoping it breaks in more sometime soon. It’s still too overstable for most of my shots I need, but I can see how in time, it will be one of my favorites. It fills a hole I had in my bag for the longest time. I wanted a distance FH disc that was stable, but not overly so. And also a good control driver that WILL NOT flip right in wind no matter what. As my Trace’s and Wraiths will definitely flip on me in headwind above 10-15mph. And it does both of those for me! The way it feels in your hand for backhand and forehand is amazing, and once it beats in a bit straighter, it will be absolutely money as my Control Driver/Distance FH disc. And the Eagle artwork on it is absolutely top notch! Most of TSA’s artwork is some of the best out there stock or custom! They look SO good in person and make Innova, Discmania, Discraft, etc look like silly and cheap. These discs look the BUSINESS in person (I have 2 TSA discs now and both look amazing). And mine has these subtle swirly colors in it. It’s bright pink, but with this very subtle white swirls in the pink that is barely noticeable. It looks SOO good.
