Started Disc Golf last month and was struggled to get over 200ft(RHBH). I previous bowled and have pretty good arm strength but was struggling to find a disc that felt right or came out my hand how i liked and really felt i was using unnecessary power for the distance i was getting. I came across the catalyst and saw it mention bringing big distance for beginners and advanced players. I decided to give it a shot. I instantly threw 100ft further also the grip of this disc really comes out of my hand way better than the discs i previously tried. This was all with only small changes to my form so far. I threw my first birdie on a 300ft hole the first day i tried this disc. It feels nice being able to reach the basket. Now having a really strong and consistent driver in my bag really helps me pinpoint the problems with my form. I do have to say though my city has constant wind and anytime its over 18mph this disc fades way too hard. At least in the Proton plastic. However with low wind and really flat throws you can get some really nice skips with this disc which easily gets way more distance

169g Plasma plastic.  It doesn't have a lot of glide and needs to be thrown up (at least a little).  I had high hopes for this disc, but it hasn't really found a spot in any bag (I own separate discs for 6 people to use regularly).  I can get decent distances out of it, but I'm not nearly as consistent with this disc as I am with some other distance drivers (Gateway Apex, Westside Sorcerer, Innova Daedalus, Innova Tern, Innova Mamba, etc).  All of the discs that I listed seem to have more glide even though some are heavier.  It's possible that I simply don't get enough rotation on Catalyst to make use of its advertised higher moment of inertia.  I don't know.  I still use it for field/distance practice... and it might find a spot in someone's bag at some point... it just hasn't yet.  It's not a bad disc; it's simply a disc that hasn't connected with any of us yet.

This disc is great for hyzer flips as many other reviews said. It's also great to put on a slight anhyzer and it will follow that line nicely. It did take some time to break in though. 

One of the first MVP drivers I ever bought and found it very useful for Hyzer flips and turnover S lines. Only issue i found with this disc was it was unreliable in a direct headwind as it would turn and burn easily. I also found when overpowering this disc it would turnover too easily. I did love the domed feeling with this disc and wide rim as it fit very comfortably in my hand. I found after time reaching for my Inertia over the Catalyst for more reliability in my shots and found I ended up replacing it with a Wave. 

This is my go-to side arm driver.  It is hard to overpower and the consistency is great.  I was worried about the construction of the MVP discs, but now that I have used it for a few rounds, it is one of my favorites.  Highly recommend.  

This is my longest throwing driver for sure.  I play at altitude, so stuff is way more overstable up here than at sea level.  Having an understable disc to counteract the altitude is a must if you aren't a 500' driving pro.  At sea level, I could see this being a roller disc, but up here, it is a hyzerflip machine.  Mine has about 5 months of beat-in on it.  Let this go on about 20% hyzer, rip it hard, it'll stand up, turn over just enough to slowly drift to the right, it will stay in the air forever, then pull out of the turn and fade back to earth.  This was the first disc I threw over 450' and still holds my distance record. 

This might be ok for a beginner, but I wouldn't try throwing it until you can consistently throw 300' feet.  It is still a very high speed driver and if you don't get it up to speed it's going to just fade out hard on you. 

I love this disc for hyzer flips - it coasts a long way! It can be a bit finicky in the wind, but on a calm day this goes about as far as I can throw.

So I don't think that there is a 13 speed disc on the market that is great for any beginner... but this one would be close! As a beginner, when I first learned how to flip up some fairway drivers, this was the first distance driver I could get to sit up for me. When I got this thing to flip up for me, WOW. This thing absolutely bombs. This was the first disc I ever got to 350ft and I have to say... it was incredibly easy to do with this guy. The rim was a little sharp, but once you get used to it, it can become comfortable. This disc really got me to understand all of the buzz about MVP plastic. Before throwing this disc I couldn't imagine overmold tech being all that different, but considering the way this flew and the easy distance that it gave me, believe the hype! I highly recommend this and any other driver in the MVP / Axiom line. Overmolds are free easy distance!

I picked this disc up to replace my Nuke SS, which was my previous max distance disc. Instead, I found a very under-stable, yet high-speed disc, with my best distances reaching 440 feet. On a huge hyzer, I can get this thing to flip up and slightly turn. When on a less pronounced hyzer, this thing will turn and burn if on a line under 15 feet in the air. My 167g Catalyst is also a great roller disc, exceeding my best throws. For someone with a slightly slower arm speed, this disc would suit them perfectly.

I have a few rounds in with my 171g Proton Catalyst now and I have to say I'm quite fond of this disc. If I let the disc go flat it stays fairly flat, with a very mild right turn and a mild, forward fade at the end of flight. When you really get behind this thing it moves! It's almost like a fast control driver for me with the minimal turn and fade. It will turn a bit more when thrown into a head-wind but it does hold up pretty well. The wide rim is comfortable for me, but I have fairly long fingers so I could see it potentially being an issue for somebody with smaller hands. I like the proton plastic, it's not overly grippy and its a little flexible. This is one of two MVP discs currently in my bag, but I'm curious to see how the outer plastic edge holds up over time. I usually go for the proton type plastics for courses where there are rocks or other obsticles that might cut up the plastic, but this disc is a bit different. I would not necessarily recommend this disc to beginners, might need to be at least the 200' range for this to work out, but I can't say for sure. Overall I love the disc!
