The Caltrop is a great approach disc, and you can count on it to fly the same every time you throw it, especially in the Zero Hard plastic. The fade at the end of the flight is noticeable, but maybe not quite a 2. Due to the thumbtrack and somewhat deeper rim, it doesn't feel super comfortable for actually putting, but it's one of my favorite approach discs now. It has a similar feel to the Slammer, just less overstable. It likes to hold whatever line you put on it for the majority of the flight, which can lead to some very accurate turnover backhand or forehand approaches. It's out of production, but if you can get your hands on one, it could definitely find a spot in your bag.

Short and simple this disc is the little bro to discs like Harp. a 2/2/0/2 putter that will always fade and fly until it falls out of sky like a brick. This could be a decent intro to overstable putters for newer players but more advanced players might prefer more speed and or glide from discs like the Harp or Zone.

The Caltrop is a stable wind fighting putter from Latitude 64. The Caltrop has a similar feel to Innova's Rhyno, with a thumbtrack on the top of the disc. It has a similar flight as well, although I would say the Caltrop is a bit less overstable and has a little more glide than the Rhyno. Overall I really liked the flight when throwing off the tee and on approach shots. The disc had a nice, trusty fade that made it easy to be accurate. In the circle, I wasn't as impressed, as stable putters like this don't lend themselves to my style of spin putt. Overall, this is a great disc from Latitude 64.

I threw my friends Caltrop today back to back against my Soft Harp today just to see how they compare.

The Caltrop is a bit longer than the harp, and bit less stable. Like the harp, it resists high speed turn, instead just staying straighter longer. It held hyzers comparably and even though it was a Zero Hard and my Harp is a BT Soft, they both didn't skip much if at all. Caltrop is pretty lazy landing.

It was a bit gusty today in the field, and the Caltrop handled the wind just fine.

I wasn't a big fan of the thumbtrac. Just doesn't feel great in my hand.

Not going to be bumping my harps any time soon.

I just tried the new Caltrop in Zero Hard plastic at 172g. In the past I didn't like the feel of a thumb-track, but the Caltrop feels pretty fantastic in my hand. The track makes the rim feel a little more shallow in my hand, and I like the sharper, beadless feel.

I would compare the Caltrop to a BT Line Harp or Zero Line Sinus. For me they would fill a very similar slot in my bag, although they do differ in stability a little. I would grab whichever one felt best in your hand, for me it's currently the BT Hard Harp but I really love all three.

Off the tee it's fairly stable and holds a good line. It will flex out of an anhyzer, if thrown flat it glides great with good fade, and on a hyzer it holds a great line and the Zero plastic lets it settle pretty quick.

As a putting putter, it feels pretty good too. I would generally use a less stable putter with more glide, but this thing can still rock it in or outside of the circle. The Caltrop (Sinus and Harp too) are great for putting in headwinds as well.

Normally I am afraid to put some power behind my upshots and approaches in fear of turning it over. But not with the Caltrop. I can put some zip on this disc and I know it's going to fall out of the sky and fade left. Nice compliment to the harp as it has a little less glide and the thumbtrack gives me a more comfortable grip.

The Caltrop is an interesting new putter from Latitude 64, and I think I like it. I'm definitely going to keep trying this out. First off, this didn't work so well for me as a "putting" putter, because I grip the disc a little differently than where the thumb-track is. I'm sure it'd work great for some people, but, putters are personal.

However, I really like this disc for driving or approach shots. It's stable enough that it doesn't really flip at all, it just goes straight and has a nice predictable fade at the end. It snaps out of my hand nicely (due to the subtle thumb track) and doesn't skip too much (softer the plastic the better for sticking).

Anyway, this is a solid approach disc that I'm looking forward to working with more! It'll fill the slot between my Harp and P2 for approach/driving putters.

The Caltrop has become my new favorite throwing putter for tunnel shots. For some reason, the shape of this disc really lends well to the size of my hands making for an incredibly comfortable grip. In turn, that gives me more confidence off of the tee as well as navigating tricky upshots. For me, this disc is point and shoot with a nice, soft fade.

My first throw off the tee with the Caltrop was on an infamously treacherous hole at my local course. It's a tight tunnel shot that is on the side of a hill. If your disc lands wrong it will roll through the woods like a goodyear tire. I threw the Caltrop and it softly faded to the base of the hill where the basket sits, giving me one of the only birdie looks I've ever had on that hole.
