The Tern is an understable high speed driver. Being understable, this is a comfortable disc that provides max distance for intermediate players. While the Tern’s rim is very wide (2.3 cm) it isn’t at max width like the Dominator, Vulcan, or Katana. The Innova Tern was approved by the PDGA on December 3, 2012. Innova states that the flight rating of this disc in Star and Champion plastic slightly differ. The flight rating for Champion Plastic is 12/6/-2/2. The Champion plastic that the Tern is manufactured in is super clear and looks really sharp.

I put the pro Tern in to my bag after the first time I played with it. I live and play above 5000' so I've been looking for a max distance understable driver and I found it with the Tern. I can get it past 400' on a good rip. It'll turn but still has enough stablility to fade back. I don't throw it into a headwind but I don't find it very touchy. I play 1 or 2 rounds a week and after a year this disc hasn't lost much stability. It only gets through when I need all the distance so maybe only a few throws a round. I like this disc better than my Gstar Shryke and I-blend Pharoah. Those discs are similar but I find they lack the glide I get with my Tern.
