The Tern is an understable high speed driver. Being understable, this is a comfortable disc that provides max distance for intermediate players. While the Tern’s rim is very wide (2.3 cm) it isn’t at max width like the Dominator, Vulcan, or Katana. The Innova Tern was approved by the PDGA on December 3, 2012. Innova states that the flight rating of this disc in Star and Champion plastic slightly differ. The flight rating for Champion Plastic is 12/6/-2/2. The Champion plastic that the Tern is manufactured in is super clear and looks really sharp.

I have 175g Glow Champion Tern and live above 5000' elevation in Wyoming

Feel: The glow champion feels a little more slick and a little more stiff than regular champion.  It is fairly flat with a shallow rim, it feels small in the hand.  Had minor flashing issues and felt good to throw from the day of purchase.

Flight:  I don't know if it's the plastic or if I got an anomaly, but this disc flies much more overstable than the numbers imply.  Mine won't flip at all, it just holds the angle.  It fights out of anyhyzer just as fast as my Destroyers with equal fade.

Conclusion:  Due to the overstability of the disc combined with the 12 speed, I would not recommend this disc for beginners.  This would be a more overstable counterpart to various other plastics in this same mold.

Holy cow, this disc bombs... I am an average to good player and I am able to get so much controlled distance with this thing.  I primarily use pro Wraiths which beat in to understable, but right out of the box this new Tern beats my wraiths by 25-50 feet pretty easily.

Somewhat beginner friendly because I don't know that a ton of new players are going to have the arm to get the most out of this disc, but the understability helps slower arms like mine get maximum distance that I don't know that many other discs could do
