The Vibram Crag is the new midrange that Vibram is billing as being their most overstable midrange so far. After throwing it around, so far, I would say it definitely fits that. It isn't crazy overstable like a Justice, but it has a very strong finish at the end of a straight flight. It actually reminds me a bit of a Mace by Latitude 64.

The rim on the Crag is a bit different. It doesn't have a traditional bead, but rather has a more pronounced lip that is actually similar to an M1 if I remember right. I have always liked beaded putters and midranges, but this large lip seems to fit in my hand just as well. I guess I would also say that I wasn't super impressed with the glide on the disc. I feel like I struggled to get any distance out of it. I'm not saying that this wasn't user error, but I feel like it just didn't want to stay in the air as long as the two discs I previously mentioned, the M1 and Mace

Of course, being a Vibram disc, it is made of rubber instead of plastic. I don't personally love the feel of Vibram rubber when I am throwing, but they definitely are high quality. So if you are a Vibram loyalist, you definitely need to throw the Crag because it is very different from any other disc in their lineup and should fill a hole in your bag

The Crag is definitely an interesting disc, I will say the rim is one of a kind. It has a very flat inner edge and a steep outer edge. Holding it in a backhand power or fan grip does feel a bit odd because the rim is sort of sharp, but it's not painful, just different.

The Crag I feel like is one of those rare discs that is more overstable the harder you throw it. When thrown with moderate power it would go straight for quite some time before suddenly dumping off. When thrown with high power it seemed to jump to the left more quickly out of the hand and sort of fly sideways and fade the whole time. When thrown on an anny it does come out fairly quickly, but does get some good distance.

Because of this I had a hard time figuring out the disc and deciding exactly how hard to throw it. In the end it seemed like the moderate speed touch shots worked best for me as they were more predictable. But, it could be a great utility discs for getting around a tree down the fairway because of how sharp it turns right at the end.

Upon looking at the Crag, I expected a uniquely overstable mid-range disc, which can be quite a blessing in certain game situations. I like the Justice for such occasions, and I even enjoyed the Stego oddity for shear beefiness. But when I threw the Crag, it wasn't nearly as overstable as I expected. It has a prominent fade, but I wouldn't say that it is a meat-hook. In fact, when through with a smooth release befitting a mid-range, it flies pretty darn straight for quite a while before making the fade. It's more of a sudden end-fade, rather than a smooth, long fade.

The Crag has a larger inside rim which works well for forehand throws, and I think that is much of the intent of its design. The rim can be a bit larger for backhanders like myself, but not so much that it's uncomfortable. I give it four stars for being a dependable mid-range with a predictable, overstable flight path that is just a step more so than the Obex. I wouldn't even say that it is too much disc for newer players who want their first short-range, overstable disc for throwing around obstacles.
