The Recon made it's debut in April of 2018 with a limited edition First Run stamp. It's a long distance, stable driver- similar to the outlaw, but with more distance. Players can torque the Recon over and it'll glide back with a strong finish. The recon can fight any headwind with confidence, and the rim configuration feels excellent in the hand.

I have a 170g Recon in Icon plastic. The disc is well made, no flashing or oddities to be seen. This one feels a little less grippy than my other Icon plastic discs. Icon is a quality Star-like plastic that feels good, releases well for me, and the discs typically look pretty cool with marbleized color patterns, though it turns out this Recon is all one solid color; not as cool looking, but that's always a secondary consideration to me at best. The black stamp on plain purple make it much easier to read the flight numbers than some Legacy discs with the fancier foil stamps. As for flight characteristics, the disc displays Turn/Fade numbers of 0/3, while the webpage says -1/3. I’d say they are more like -1/2 based on how its flight shape and distance stacked up versus similar discs. Over and over it really ended up being very similar to my Pharoah (13/6/-1/2): It gave me reasonably straight overall flights, and commendable distance. It has enough Turn and Fade to work pretty in both headwinds and tailwinds without getting pushed to more extremes right or left. The speed required might make this a difficult pick for beginners, though strong forehand players might just make reasonable use of it earlier on than other beginners.

I use the recon primarily for big forehand drives. The rim is a little too wide to feel comfortable on a backhand for me. When I forehand this disc I feel that it flies pretty true to its flight numbers. It turns a little bit, straightens out, and then has a strong overstable finish. I have thrown some of the longest forehands of my life with this disc. if you are a fan of the Innova Boss then I would recommend checking the Recon out.

I bought this to replace another forehander for me, can't remember which one though but I love this disc for my forehand driver. I get a nice strong flat line out of it with a little fade at the end but otherwise nice straight driver for me. I am picking up a back up becuse this is my go to driver for forehand.

This disc is "okay," but as it released shortly after the Aftermath, I think I prefer the Aftermath over this disc.

The numbers just don't seem to be completely correct, or they vary from plastic to plastic.  I have a first run icon and a limited run gunmetal Legend, and the two fly completely differently from each other.  The icon has a ton of turn for me, more so than the aftermath (despite the numbers) but then has a ton of fade at the end.  The legend plastic has a lot less turn, but is super beefy at the end of the flight.

The best way to describe this would be a long  straight flight with a sudden crash.  I feel Outlaws have a more "forward" fade as they slow down, where as the Recon just finishes hard, despite having more turn that the outlaw.

It feels good in the hand, and I could get good distance from both, but unless I'm playing into a straight headwind, I don't see any need to bag this disc rather than any of my other ones.  Aftermath will stay in my bag, but I'm putting the Recon on the shelf for now.

However, it's not a bad disc, I just don't have a need for it.  That said, if you have a hole that needs some distance then some dump at the end, give the recon a try.  It might work out for you.

The Recon is a solid, overstable distance driver. It is perhaps overstable enough to be a bit too much for me, at least for regular use on most drives. But I could see it finding a place in my bag as a utility disc for hard fades. It is a nice flat disc too, so it's good for power throwers and feels nice in a forehand grip. Legacy pushes it as a more overstable compliment driver to the very popular Outlaw (perhaps slightly more high-speed), and I'd have to agree with that assessment. I can see it fitting into the bag for players who love overstable discs, like the Discmania PD2 or the Dynamic Discs Enforcer, though I also find those two discs a bit too overstable for my own use, other than as utility discs.

I give the Recon four stars for being a very effective overstable distance driver, but would never recommend it as a good driver choice for new players or for players with slower arm speed. My moderate arm speed still struggled to get much distance.
