This has nearly identical numbers to the Sphinx, though in my review of that (after field test comparisons with about a dozen other similar ones), I tweaked it's glide down to a 5 and the turn to -2.5. Comparing this new Mongoose with the Sphinx, I'd say its numbers are pretty accurate: it clearly has more turn, and requires some degree of hyzer release or it turns over into the ground; but if you get the right release angle so it flips up to flat or slightly turned, it virtually always out-glided the Sphinx. No manufacturing flaws to detect, and the Icon plastic feels good & releases cleanly (hopefully it proves as durable as S-blends, which it feels like). I like that it comes in bright red, making it easier to spot in fairway grass or taller brush. I think beginners could get a feel for this and use it well pretty quickly, especially if they're decently athletic already. Very pleased with it myself.

So, I love my Star Sidewinder. It's beaten to the point of perfection. I wanted a back up and bought a Mongoose. It flies pretty similar to my beat Sidewinder. Perfect! Right out of the box I have an excellent flippy 9 speed. In time, I'm sure I'll have a killer roller.

I purchased the Mongoose to try out as an understable anhyzer control driver. This disc can cover that shot as well as some sweet hyzer-flips, but I did find it to be a bit touchy. I had trouble finding consistency with the flight, but when it hit the line it flew impressively. The plastic felt great, as most Legacy discs I have tried. I think the best use of this disc would be for roller players, you could really lay down some nice lines with it.

If you have tried other drivers and they are too fast or overstable, do youself a favor and just order one of these. I have been trying to find something to replace my suuuuuuuper beat in DX valkyrie, and this is that disc. My arm speed is right on the top side of slow/slow side of moderate. I wanted a disc that I could throw flat, in dead air, and get full flight, it happened. I can throw it flat with a little height and get lots of turn then it comes out of it fading back, almost exactly as the flight chart shows. This is a max distance disc for people with slower arm speeds, but do not use this disc in the wind, unless its a tail wind, you will get all of the lateral movement. My disc is a 170 Icon Grinder, super flexible and grippy. I want to try out a pinnacle mongoose when they come out to see if its just a little bit less understable.

edit: after throwing this disc for several months it proved to be a little finicky. If you get it up to speed the turn is huge, but just a bit too slow and you hardly get any. I have switched to the bandit for this slot. The turn is a little bit easier to predict.

Edit 2: Very flippy disc good for beginners and for learning to throw rollers. So flippy for me now though that I don't bag it. You can hyzer flip this to roller that's how flippy it is.

EDIT: So I have recently started working on my roller game and this disc is the easiest disc to roll in my bag. I also am able to get my rollers with this disc out almost as far as my best drives, but with more consistency. I'd recommend this disc as an out of the box roller for anyone who doesn't have ridiculous power. (I can throw about 350' on flat ground with no wind if I throw it just right, probably average around 320).

I love the Icon plastic. It has the best feel of any plastic I have tried. The mongoose however was disappointing. It's literally the most understable disc I have thrown, and I own a beat in Innova DX Wolf that is rated at -4 turn. The only thing I use this disc for is low power turning shots. So I don't even carry it that much. It can work as a roller for someone without much power.

The mongoose is an amazing understable fairway driver. It's great for beginners looking to get some extra distance, and experienced players looking for a hyzerflip disc. The disc reminds me a lot of innova's roadrunner. However legacy's plastic feels A LOT better. It's grippier in your hands, is more durable than Star and has more glide in my opinion. I bag two icon mongoose in my bag. They typically get used for any hyper flip shots I need and the occasional flick to get out of trouble. I have also only heard great things about the legend mongoose. These should be a little more stable. Those who have a bigger arm would probably like the legend plastic better. Unless they are looking for a sweet roller. If you want a disc that will not slip out of your hand, If you are new and looking to crush drives, or you an experienced player looking for a hyper flip disc, or you have a big arm and need a consistent roller disc. The Mongoose is for you!

I use this disc as one of my roller discs but I can also throw it and it goes a long way and to the right. I am a right handed backhand thrower so this disc is useful for shots that I have to have it finish to the right of my intended path. You can use this disc for long turnover shots as well. This disc has easy glide and does not take extra power to do what the disc is intended. You can also hyzer flip this disc as needed.

The Mongoose is another very beginner friendly driver that would be a great first driver. The disc has a good feeling rim in the hand, not too small but definitely not big by any means. The Icon plastic from Legacy also feels really good in the hand, it has great grip mixed with awesome durability.

For advanced players, the Mongoose is very understable. The disc is great for big hyzer flips that flex up and drift to the right before coming back down nicely. If thrown flat the disc does crash down to the right hard, but can be used as a roller disc if one so desires.

This was my first go-to driver. I have always had trouble getting power behind my drive, but this disc is perfect for getting a little extra distance with not much power. I also love the feel of the icon plastic.

I think the flight numbers on this disc are pretty spot on, but the only thing is that mine is pretty beat-in, so it turns over on me if I give it full power now. I am thinking about getting a second, newer one to add to my bag because it has really become a staple for me.

I have a max weight icon that i bought for long anny shots or hyzer flip to anny or hyzer to flat shots. And this disc does exactly that for me right out the box. The anny lines are very controlled. I didnt get any turn and burns..also disc seems like a great roller disc. Perfect utility disc! Good disc for beginners with a moderate arm speed also

I have thrown a good deal of plastic. I have a 171 legacy mongoose and i love the plastic it is very grippy when wet and flies with consistency. I like how you can give it a little more power and it will ever so slightly pull to the right. The mongoose is a very reliable disc. I would compare this disc to the latitude 64 maul in flight characteristics except the mongoose is a hair less understable. I have bagged this disc for now and will most likely keep it in my bag for a while.

My mongoose is a 166g first run in icon. I throw RHBH, and have found this to be a useful understable disc. It seems like this disc is good for a few different, specific shots though and that might be it. If I throw the disc high with a decent amount of anny, it will fly for awhile and turn over into a long distance roller. If I throw it low with a little hyzer, it flips into a good turnover shot with a lot of lateral movement to the right. With A LOT of hyzer it flips into a very glidey straight shot. This disc comes in very very handy a few times during a round, but it probably won't be your "go to" driver unless you are a beginner.
